KCSIE Statement
Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) Compliance Statement.
Continu Plus Academy is fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children. We work in line with the statutory guidance Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) issued by the Department for Education and ensure that safeguarding is at the heart of everything we do.
Our Commitment to Safeguarding
In accordance with Keeping Children Safe in Education, we ensure that:
• Safeguarding arrangements are effective, robust and reviewed regularly
• A strong safeguarding culture is embedded across the school
• Children are taught how to keep themselves safe, including online
• All concerns about a child’s welfare are taken seriously and acted upon promptly
Staff Training and Awareness
All staff, governors and volunteers:
• Receive safeguarding and child protection training appropriate to their role
• Are familiar with the most recent version of Keeping Children Safe in Education, including Part 1 and Annex B
• Understand their responsibility to report concerns about a child’s safety or wellbeing immediately
• Are trained to recognise signs of abuse, neglect, exploitation and radicalisation
The Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) and safeguarding team receive appropriate enhanced training and ongoing updates in line with statutory requirements.
Safer Recruitment and Allegations Management
We follow safer recruitment practices to help deter, identify and reject unsuitable individuals. This includes:
• Enhanced DBS checks and appropriate identity and qualification checks
• At least one trained safer recruitment member on every interview panel
• Clear procedures for managing allegations against staff in line with KCSIE guidance
Online Safety and Filtering
The school ensures that appropriate filtering and monitoring systems are in place to protect pupils from harmful or inappropriate online content. Online safety education is embedded across the curriculum and supported by clear policies and acceptable use agreements.
Working with Parents and External Agencies
Safeguarding is most effective when schools work in partnership with parents, carers and external agencies. Where appropriate, we work closely with social care, health professionals, the police and other safeguarding partners to ensure the best outcomes for children.
Policies and Procedures
Our safeguarding arrangements are supported by a range of policies, including:
• Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy
• Online Safety (E-Safety) Policy
• Behaviour Policy
• Anti-Bullying Policy
• Prevent Duty Statement
These policies are reviewed regularly and are available on our website.
